Quantum Techniques in Machine Learning (QTML) is an annual international conference focusing on the interdisciplinary field of quantum technology and machine learning. The conference brings together leading academic researchers and industry experts to explore the interplay between quantum computing and machine learning, from foundational theory to real-world applications. The 2026 edition is the 10th installment of the conference series.

QTML 2026 takes place December 6 - 11, 2026, at Stellenbosch University in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

QTML 2026 is designed for researchers, students, and industry professionals working at the intersection of quantum computing and machine learning. This includes quantum physicists, computer scientists, data scientists, and engineers interested in quantum-enhanced algorithms, variational methods, quantum error correction, and related topics. Both theoretical and applied researchers are welcome.

QTML 2026 is a fully in-person event held at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. There will be no virtual participation or attendance — all keynotes, talks, poster sessions, networking, and social events take place on-site. We look forward to welcoming all participants in person.

All sessions, presentations, and materials are in English.

Submissions are handled through our Indico submission portal. You'll need to create an Indico account (if you don't already have one), then follow the submission link from our Call for Papers page.

All deadlines, including the abstract submission deadline of 7 July 2026, are given in Anywhere on Earth (AoE) time. This means a deadline has not passed until it is past that date everywhere on Earth — that is, 23:59 on the stated date in the UTC-12 time zone. As long as it is still 7 July 2026 somewhere on the planet, your submission is on time, so there is no need to convert the deadline to your local time zone.

Deadline extensions are not guaranteed and will be decided by the Programme Committee. Any extensions will be announced on the website and via our mailing list. We recommend planning to submit before the posted deadline.

QTML welcomes submissions of recently published work, work under review, and new unpublished work. The conference does not publish formal proceedings, so presenting at QTML does not constitute prior publication.

Registration is now open through our registration portal, run by Event Options. Use the Register button at the top of any page on this site to get started. Group bookings, and registering on behalf of someone else, are both supported.

Yes, we can provide visa invitation letters for registered participants. After completing your registration, you can request an invitation letter through the registration portal or by emailing qtml2026@nithecs.ac.za. Please allow at least 2 weeks for processing and apply for your visa well in advance.

We suggest five hotels in and around Stellenbosch: The Salene (where the conference gala dinner takes place), The Devon Valley Hotel, the Protea Hotel by Marriott Stellenbosch & Conference Centre, the Protea Hotel by Marriott Dorpshuis & Spa, and WINK Aparthotel Quivertree. We strongly recommend Uber. The drive takes 30 - 40 minutes. Book only through the official Uber app, and ignore anyone in the arrivals hall who offers you a "taxi". The app shows you where to meet your driver. Rental cars are also available at the airport, and our shuttle partner can arrange transfers (see below).

For the shuttle service, we would like to connect you to the partner that handles the bookings. Participants can send their enquiries directly to the partner via email at calvynstours@yahoo.com and they will provide you with the relevant pricing and information.

Use Uber. It is quick, affordable and widely available in Stellenbosch, and it is the easiest way to travel between your hotel, the venue and evening events. Always book through the official Uber app rather than accepting rides from people offering a "taxi". See Getting Around for more tips.

Yes, there is ample parking available at Stellenbosch University. Detailed parking information and maps will be provided closer to the conference date.

Yes, complimentary WiFi will be available throughout the conference venue. Login credentials will be provided at registration.

Yes, we cater to various dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher, and gluten-free options. Please indicate your dietary needs during registration so we can ensure appropriate meals are available.
