About the Conference
Quantum Techniques in Machine Learning
The premier international forum for quantum computing and machine learning research, returning to South Africa for its landmark 10th edition.
Conference Overview
Quantum Techniques in Machine Learning (QTML) is an annual international conference at the forefront of quantum science and machine learning. Since its founding in 2017, QTML has brought together researchers and industry experts from around the world to explore how quantum computing can transform learning, optimization, and data-driven discovery.
QTML fosters collaboration and advances research on the interplay between quantum mechanics and machine learning, from foundational theory to real-world applications. The conference features keynote talks from leading researchers, invited presentations, contributed talks, poster sessions, tutorials, and ample opportunities for networking and discussion.
The 2026 edition marks a special homecoming to South Africa, where the conference was held in its early years (Durban, 2018). Hosted by Stellenbosch University in the heart of the Western Cape's wine country, QTML 2026 offers a unique setting that combines world-class research with the warmth and beauty of the South African landscape.
We invite researchers, students, and industry professionals to join us for five days of cutting-edge science, collaboration, and celebration as QTML reaches its 10th anniversary milestone.
2026 Theme: Bridging Quantum Computing and Machine Learning
The 10th edition of QTML places particular emphasis on the convergence of quantum computing and machine learning across multiple dimensions: from theoretical foundations to practical applications, and from laboratory demonstrations to industry deployment.
